Yerba Buena Community Shows Their Love of the Neighborhood
Love is a many splendored thing. In this case, more than 160 hotels, cultural institutions, residents, Supervisor Matt Haney, and YBCBD Clean Team and staff showed their love for the neighborhood on the inaugural Love Our City Hospitality & Tourism Cleanup Day. They painted, scrubbed and picked-up litter so the splendor of Yerba Buena was even more obvious.
“Our great turnout shows how much people care about Yerba Buena,” said YBCBD Director of Neighborhood Services and Projects Constance Cavallas. “Many thanks to everyone who got their hands dirty on clean-up day.”
Among the work done that June day was repainting Leah Rosenberg’s Local Color, the brightly-colored Natoma Street public art niches supported by the YBCBD. Several of the 22 YBCBD-funded Bigbelly smart trash containers were washed. Utility poles were painted, stickers removed and tree wells weeded. Plants went in on the Mission Street median between Third and Fourth streets.
Thanks to the Hotel Council of San Francisco, San Francisco Travel and San Francisco Public Works for hosting the event and to the many participating organizations and business in Yerba Buena including: 111 Minna Gallery, Contemporary Jewish Museum, Four Seasons Hotel, InterContinental San Francisco, Moscone Center, Palace Hotel, Park Central Hotel, PRA Northern California, Roy’s Restaurant, San Francisco Marriott Marquis, San Francisco State University, Virgin Hotels, W San Francisco.
