Tuesday, February 12 through Friday, February 15: The IBM Think 2019 conference will be held at Moscone Center from Tuesday, February 12 through Friday, February 15. Attendance of more than 40,000 is anticipated. Conference activities will take place at Moscone North, South and West, as well as at YBCA and in the Metreon and Yerba Buena Gardens. Heavy pedestrian traffic should be expected around Moscone Center and on 3rd and 4th streets between Howard and Market streets. For more information visit https://www.ibm.com/events/think/.

The following street closure will be required:

  • Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets will be closed from 7 p.m., Thursday, February 7 to 11 p.m., Sunday, February 17.
  • In addition there will be lane closures and parking restrictions on Howard Street between 2nd and 3rd streets, and between 4th and 5th streets and on 3rd Street between Folsom and Mission streets.

Significant traffic congestion is anticipated in and around Moscone Center for the duration of the closure. Travelers are encouraged to take public transportation or use alternate routes. There will be heavy pedestrian traffic in the area. Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.

There are signed bicycle detours for people on bikes on Howard Street to turn north at 2nd Street to Market Street. People on bikes who wish to stay on Howard Street have the option to dismount at Howard and 3rd streets and walk their bicycle through the event along the north sidewalk. Signage has been placed in advance of the street closures and detour routes. Caltrans has activated electronic message signs on major freeways entering the city to notify motorists of the closures. SFMTA Parking Control Officers and San Francisco Police Officers will be deployed at key intersections throughout the closures.
